So, last night I didn't get any sleep. Why? Well, apparently a couple of great-horned owls have taken up residence in one of my trees very near my window, and are mating. Follow the link to hear an approximation of the call (it's the third one).
While the idea of an owl hanging out in my trees is pretty cool, and the idea of owl babies is even cooler, I don't really need to hear the opening strains of owl love. Even worse, it starts around one a.m. and goes ALL NIGHT LONG!!! I wish they would just do it, and get it over with.
(By the way, this is not a picture of my owls, I got it from Flickr. I'll get one of them, once they stop courting and start sitting on their nest.)
