I know...

...that it is April, but I wanted to add one last group of pictures to my March pictures project
My first dogwood has bloomed!

I've been meaning to take a picture of it, then ended up doing it right before a thunderstorm.

The other day Mr. Hobbitfeet got up on the garage roof to investigate a leak. We lost three tiles at the peak during the winter. Mr. H. was very scared on the roof, and wouldn't walk like a normal person, but scooted on his butt as you see him here. Next time he says that I'll be the one on the roof if I think it's so funny. Little does he know that I used to go up on the roof as a child and "help" my dad. Also, I used to sit on the roof of the back porch of m Dad's in Bridgeport and listen to concerts at Comiskey Park (bite me U.S. Cellular), or just sunbathe. So BRING IT ON!!!!

YAY! Spring!

All of the sudden every tree that can is blooming. The birds and frogs are crazy loud, and I feel like spring is finally here. Of course I don't get to enjoy it because all I am doing is working. Ah well, check out today's pictures.

Look our strawberry plants are growing.

The dogwoods are starting to bloom.

I don't know what these are.

The ravine is looking greener.

What a difference from March 1st !

More flower buds.

Almost here!

Today one of my peonies popped out, and my cherry tree got a baby blossom.

Sorry the peony picture sucks!

Night time fun

It was very warm so we got to stay out all night. So my March pictures for the day are of Girl, Mr. H., and I playing in the dark (Boy was at Taekwondo).

The cherry tree at night.

I don't get how people can say she looks like him when Mr. H. is such as freak, and Girl is so cute!

This is Girl being a monster at our dark party.

Wow!

I had this really fantastic post, about how I was busy working my now (temporarily, but maybe permanently) full-time job, my part-time job and a side project, and Mr. Hobbitfeet was busy with school and work. That we were both busy with the kids, especially getting Boy ready to test for his black belt (which he's doing on the 31st). Unfortunately, Blogger ate it, and I don't want to re-write it. So you are out of luck.
However, I will redo the pictures. The first time I explained that I was giving you more pictures than usual because I was so far behind.

My mom came and visited on Wednesday. If you look close you can see that I lent her my copy of Firefly. My mom loves cowboys and space, so I felt that she couldn't miss the show that combines the two.

Mr. H. never wears shoes.

Lots of baby leaves-

even on my cherry tree!

The baby lilac tree is coming alive!

Some random flowers!

And my favorite:

The buds on the dogwood trees are opening.

Buds and Sprouts: the Order of the Day!

Today has me very excited. When Mr. H. and I went for a walk by the river on my mom's property, there were tons of trees budding. This morning when I took my pictures, I was focused on buds and sprouts.

My dogwood buds:

The surprise lillies came out a little more:

The burning bush has little buds:
and this little guy came out, I think he's the allium that I got from my mom last year:
And most exciting, we have leaves!!!!

Warm and Lovely

Today the weather was fan-freaking-tastic. At least 78 possibly 80. Don't you just love spring?
Anyhow, my March pictures are brought to you by my hammock, very graciously given to me for Christmas by my sister-in-law, C.

Here are the trees as seen from my hammock: And a view of the surprise lilly sprouts (from the hammock): And finally, Girl from the patio floor, where I was after I fell out of the hammock (don't you love the boots?):

An Exciting Development

I know that I've been a slacker with my March pictures. I have no excuse except nothing much has been happening, and I was sure my audience (if there is one) didn't want to look at the same pictures of my dead-looking yard. But this morning (thanks to four days of spring-like weather) there was an awesome development!

Look:

My baby cherry tree (last year's mother's day gift) has new growth! Not just tiny buds, but a whole new branch!

And:

Look sprouts! These are the plants that I don't like, but that dominate my yard as they are extremely popular round these parts, so the old owners put them EVERYWHERE. People around here call them "Surprise Lillies" because they sprout early and look like tall, thick blades of grass until about June or July then all of a sudden a long flower stalk grows and SURPRISE! you have lillies.

Here is what they'll look like (I got this picture from Lisa Shea)

Spring Playing

Yesterday we were out enjoying the 63+ degree weather and I didn't take my March picture. instead I offer this lovely video of me and the kids playing. Or rather, the kids (and dog) attacking me.

Yummy Weather! Yucky Kids!

Right now I am enjoying the 63 degree weather. I'd enjoy it more if Girl wasn't too sick to do very much.

Mr. Hobbitfeet even took the plastic off our windows. The plastic was very helpful this year. When everyone else around us were complaining about the end of the rate freeze and skyrocketing utilities, ours actually went down by about $40/month. I credit the plastic and the fact that I was constantly turning off every unnecessary light.
Boy tried out the hammock that I got for Christmas. He was a little scared.

A Lovely Warm Day

This morning was cool. I was taking pictures without my coat, and I even drove to work without it. I just went outside for something and it is gorgeous. Now all you warm-all-year people might not think so but it is sunny and 49, which feels glorious. Now, were this the fall, I would be saying it's freezing, but it's spring. La Dee Dah! So down to my March 8th photos. Still too cool to melt all the snow, but there were more buds on my trees!

Hey, Buuud!

Although it is hard to tell from today's general picture:

There has been an exciting development:

I did my best to show you, perhaps if you click on the picture and check it out full-size, you'll be able to see that my dogwoods, have buds!

I also discovered that my son has caught my spring fever, last night I overheard him on the phone and the conversation went something like this:

"Can't you wait for the trees to start blooming?"
Pause while C.O. talks.
"Well I can't! Hee hee haw haw wah wah wah wah hee hee wah hah hah hah hah!"

Whoops!

I was running late for work this morning and forgot to take a picture. Then, when I got home, it was too dark to make any impact. I have therefore decided to post one of my rejected photos from my fun Monday assignment. especially since today looked a lot like yesterday. This weekend is supposed to be warm though so maybe I'll have fun pictures for you.

Just so you know, it was rejected because you couldn't see WM's bathing suit.

Sunny Days!

Today's March pictures feature Girl (and Wonder Monkey). It's a very sunny day, although it's still pretty cold. The sun outside prompted Boy to say "I love when the sun is up when I wake up." To which Mr. Hobbitfeet replied with a long lecture on Daylight savings time. Blah, blah, blah, energy. Sometimes he sounds like the parents in a Peanuts cartoon.
Boy was also begging to go to school without a coat again, but the high is only 41.

Girl did get to ride her trike for a second or two before running inside for warmer clothes.

I Suck

I give myself one blogging assignment and fail after only two days. Alas, I missed my March 3rd pictures because my sister, nephew, aunt, and grandma blew into town. So sue me. I can promise you didn't miss much, just a whole bunch of blowy snow that didn't stick. It's non-stickiness is proven by my lovely March 4th pictures, brought to you by Mr. Rupert Giles, labradoodle extraordinaire.

First he's saying "I love being out in the front yard sans leash, but where's all the snow?" Mr. G loves the snow.

Here he's thinking "Ahhh! get me off of all this dried, dead grass! Haven't you people ever heard of a rake?""

March 2

The rain and above 50 temps have melted most of the snow. Other than that, there aren't any changes.
